Hmmm interesting point. I fundamentally disagree with the point that human are somehow 'un-natural' and that us changing (or some would say destroying the planet) is not correct. Being 'correct' is a moral issue and does not deal with nature.

There are many species that make their own environmental inhospitable for themselves. For example, certain species of lichen or shrubs that grow after a forest fire. These species make their environments places that are fertile for other species but not themselves. They kill themselves.

It seems that fundamental difference between us and them is not whether we're natural or not, but that we have feelings.

Have you seen The Day The Earth Stood Still? Yes it stars Keanu Reeves, barf, but the plot is that aliens come to rid the planet of humans, since the earth is precious and the only downfall of its life is the human race. Erasing us equals a new start for planet earth. There's a scene with John Cleese where he presents Keanu Reeves with the reality that change happens on the precipice of destruction. Forced and instigated evolution through chaos and demise. Do we need utter despair for true societal change. If so, how do you define rock bottom? I know what Ken Seeley (Intervention) would say... We're just a bunch of addicts anyway.
